Retention marketing: email, SMS & subscriptions
Email flows, SMS and subscription programmes for Shopify stores — revenue from the customers you already paid to acquire.
Acquisition gets more expensive every year; the customers you’ve already won are the margin you’re leaving on the table. Retention work is the unglamorous, highest-leverage growth channel a Shopify store has.
We build the owned-revenue machine end to end: the lifecycle flows that run themselves — welcome, browse, cart, post-purchase, win-back — the segmentation that keeps sends relevant, and where the product supports it, a subscription programme designed around how people actually reorder.
Measured like a channel, not a chore
Retention gets a revenue target and a monthly readout like any other channel: owned-revenue share, flow performance, list growth against churn. If a flow underperforms, it gets rebuilt — not left to drip.
Questions, answered
Which email platform do you work with?
Klaviyo, primarily — it's the deepest Shopify integration and the strongest segmentation model. If you're on something else, the strategy work travels; we'll tell you honestly whether switching is worth it.
Are subscriptions right for our product?
If your product is consumed and reordered — food, supplements, skincare, coffee — usually yes. If not, forced subscription UX does more harm than good, and we'll say so before you spend on it.
What results should we expect from retention work?
Stores typically see 25–40% of revenue from owned channels once core flows and a considered campaign rhythm are in place. Northline Supply's subscription launch lifted repeat orders 52%.
